Here’s What Marcee Gray’s Letter To The Victims’ Families Says

According to a report published by CNN on Wednesday, September 11, Marcee provided the outlet with a letter. It was reportedly written by the mother with words for the “parents and families” of those affected by the recent school shooting.

“To the parents and families of those affected by the tragic events at Apalachee High School, I want to say that I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart,” Marcee wrote before referring to the 14-year-old victims who lost their lives on Wednesday, September 4. “If I could take the place of Mason and Christian, I would without a second thought.”

Additionally, Marcee noted that losing one of her children “would be the only thing” she “wouldn’t be able to come back from.”

“I feel all of your pain and devastation. I grieve and cry with you,” she continued, then referring to the two teachers who lost their lives in the shooting. “[My] heart breaks for the 2 teachers who gave their lives while in the service of teaching and protecting our children.”

Ultimately, Marcee concluded her letter by stating, “We are all in a living nightmare right now.” She noted that she will “never” forgive herself “for what has happened.”

Finally, Marcee shared a few words about her son Colt.

“My son Colt is not a monster. He is my oldest baby,” she wrote. “He is quiet, thoughtful, caring, funny, and extremely intelligent. Please pray for him and the rest of our family, as I am praying for all of you every moment of every day.”

More Details Were Recently Revealed About Colt Gray’s Mother

As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this week, it was revealed that Colt texted his mother before opening fire at his school.

“I’m sorry, mom,” he reportedly wrote to her.

Around 9:50 a.m., Marcee reportedly called Apalachee High School, warning officials of an “extreme emergency.” According to CNN, Marcee spoke with a school guidance counselor for about ten minutes.

“‘Well, I wanted to let you know that earlier this morning, one of Colt’s teachers had sent me an email that said Colt had been making references to school shootings,'” the counselor allegedly informed Marcee. “I told them it was an extreme emergency and for them to go immediately and find Colt to check on him… I don’t understand what took them so long.”

Here’s What’s Happening With The Apalachee High School Shooting Suspect & His Dad

As The Shade Room previously reported, the September 4 shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia claimed the lives of 14-year-old Mason Schermerhorn, 14-year-old Christian Angulo, 53-year-old Christina Irmie, and 39-year-old Richard Aspinwall.

Colt Gray has since been charged with four felony counts of murder. Additionally, his father, Colin, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and child cruelty.

Authorities believe Colin purchased the AR-15-style rifle Colt used for the shooting. And did so “knowingly,” allowing his son “to possess a gun,” per The Shade Room.

Earlier this week, bodycam footage was released showing authorities speaking with Colt and his father in May 2023. The police had reportedly arrived at their home after receiving an FBI tip that Colt had then made threats to “shoot up a school.”
