Super Bowl LIX is still five months away, but it’s been a hot topic on social media for the last 24 hours. Kendrick Lamar is the Halftime Show’s headliner, and the reactions to his forthcoming performance in New Orleans on Feb. 9 are all over the place. Lil Wayne has heavily been a part of the conversation. Master P has already advocated for the NOLA native’s involvement in the show. Now, fellow artists like Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Boosie, Akbar V, and Cam’ron are also speaking out!

Nicki Minaj Speaks Out About Super Bowl Headliner

On Monday (Sept. 9), Nicki Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Lil Wayne’s career and contributions to hers and Drake’s. Her comments came amid the trending conversation of Lil Wayne allegedly being passed over as the Super Bowl headliner. Whether he was ever a choice or offered the opportunity remains unclear. Wayne has not yet publicly reacted to Lamar securing the stage.

“Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego. Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!! Nola, what’s good?!!!!!! Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out. A white man. Shi*, sad. House N****R TINGZ. but it’s GOOD FI DEM!!!!!!! No loyalty? Welp. then n****z will keep son’ing you!!!!! #DTLR #GagCityDC LMFAOOOOOOOOOO GOODAZ FI DEL GAL U AH GOODAZ FI DEM,” Nicki wrote.

As mentioned, she also gave insight into how Wayne put her and Drake on with no official paperwork, from letting them perform on his tour to hopping on her mixtapes.

“This man has literally changed the FACE of hip hop. The hair too. IYKYK. He inspired so many to tat their faces & get locks. Inspired your faves to wanna be a great MC. he never was in this for the money. It’s always been for the love of music,” Nicki added.

Additional posts from Nicki Minaj’s X timeline show her speaking on someone being “spiteful,” “evil,” and “disgusting.” Furthermore, she stated that one man “took a knee” while another “took the bag.” However, she didn’t specify whom her messages were about.

A few hours later, Nicki circled back to continue popping off about Wayne’s alleged snub and continued to shade an unnamed person.

“God forbid if Wayne was to leave this earth right now, the culture would be in mourning. That’s why so many ppl keep saying to give our legends their flowers while they are still around to smell them. Sitting around all day playing games with ppl life & legacy. God ain’t sleep. Gee Roberson you will learn that, too. Very soon,” she wrote. Adding, “Want n****z to suck his d**k for a Grammy. want them to suck his d**k to do the half time show. LOL. Glad I did it already. LMFAO. threatening any outlet who shows me love. NIGLET IF U DONT GET GONE.”

At some point on Monday, Minaj circled back and edited the post above. She removed the parts about an unnamed person wanting her to lick boots for recognition from the Recording Academy and to perform at the Super Bowl.

In follow-up posts that same evening, Minaj continued to defend her position that Wayne deserved the Super Bowl Halftime show gig. She notably reacted to a popular X user, Tori Wan Kenobi. Tori implied that Wayne wouldn’t have been the right pick because he doesn’t represent rap to its “highest degree” at this current time. Minaj wasn’t here for Tori’s stance, saying that “God will punish” her before again defending Wayne’s rap legacy.

“The man that has not only pushed his pen the hardest, but gave the game more than 1 hip hop ICON as well on his watch? Represent the RAP game?!?!! The best RAPPER don’t represent the RAP GAME well enough 4u? Black ppl. Wow. If this don’t hurt your heart to read, it will one day. Look @ how our legends keep being treated. After they’ve given so much to us. Who are you?!!!! You GOD?!?!!!!! Judgmental swine DELETE!!!!!!! lol you will regret tweeting this. Life is funny that way. Don’t you dare turn your nose up @ Lil Wayne you d*ck munchin bozo,” Nicki clapped back.

Furthermore, she spoke on how Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar can be loved and respected simultaneously. “You can love & respect Kendrick and still love & respect Wayne. Even Kendrick loves & respects Wayne. Every real rapper loves & respects Wayne.”

Birdman, Boosie, Akbar V & Cam’ron Share Their Halftime Show Reactions

Birdman also took to X with his thoughts on Kendrick’s NFL spotlight. He implied that he’ll make sure he, Nicki, Drake and Lil Wayne are respected, but didn’t explain how. “Hatin sh*t 4real,” he wrote in a second post.

Boosie also wasted no time making it clear where he stands on Kendrick Lamar taking the Super Bowl stage in Louisiana. The Baton Rouge native dropped a strong message on X about the headliner choice, writing in a hashtag that he doesn’t “respect it.”

“ALL YALL ACTING LIKE YALL COOL WITH HOW THEY PLAYING IT FOR THE SUPERBOWL SMH THE MOST CULTURAL CITY N THE USA( NEW ORLÉANS)ITS A SMACK N THE FACE TO EVERY HIP HOP LEGEND FROM LOUISIANA ‼
@MasterPMiller @BIRDMAN5STAR. Atlanta native and rising rapper Akbar V clarified that she doesn’t want to pit Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar against each other. However, she also believes that Tunechi should’ve been tapped. “Ion care, it’s kind of messed up,” she wrote on X. She then challenged industry peers to speak up before seemingly joking about personally speaking to Jay-Z and Beyoncé about the Super Bowl headliner choice.

Meanwhile, like Nicki Minaj, Cam’ron implied that Lil Wayne “got into it” with someone involved in the Super Bowl halftime show and that not being tapped to perform was “payback.” Swipe below to see everything he said.
